Uganda Birding Safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park (5 days)

Day One: Kampala – QENP
After breakfast, we will set off on the southern bound road, have a stop over to look at the Royal Drum makers, stand on the Equator and be in both hemispheres at once and thereafter proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. We will continue through savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredible long curving horns. Queen Elizabeth is host to a large variety and volume of wildlife. It boasts one o the highest bio diversity ratings of any game park in the world, from the open Savannah to Rain forest, dense swamps and beautiful crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward. Almost 100 species that include Hippos, Lions, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena and the elusive giant forest hog. The primates include Chimps, Black and white Colobus Monkeys, Blue, Black Faced Red Colobus, and Red Tailed monkeys and Olive Baboons.Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Institute of Ecology (FB)

Day Two: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Morning game viewing and afternoon boat trip along the channel on this day will give you wildlife yield of Hippos huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, Buffalo linger in the shallows, and a tremendous variety of birds grace the grasses on the channel's edge. These may include the Great White and Pink-backed Pelicans, Great and Long-tailed Cormorants, Open-billed Stork, African Jacana, Malachite and Pied Kingfishers. There is also a Bird Observatory here, which was set up with the aim of studying both migratory and resident birds.  Since its inception in 1997 more new species have been identified, including Uganda's first record of the Bar-tailed Godwit. Over night at Mweya Safari Lodge or the Institute of Ecology (BLD) 

Day Three:  Queen Elizabeth National Park 

Morning Nature walk in Queen Elizabeth National park. On the nature walk, look out for variety of birds as well wildife in the park.. After lunch drive to Masaka birding on the way and overnight. 

Day Four: Masaka - Kampala
After breakfast, you  will drive to Kaaku swamp and other Ramsar sites in Masaka. Look for birds such as the Rufous-bellied Heron, Lesser Jacana, Lesser Moorhen and shoe bill has been sigted here but it is not a guarantee. Continue your way to Kampala. Overnight at Hotel Africana/Holiday Express/ Cassia Lodge / Red chill hideout. 

Day Five: Airport Transfer
If time allows you can carry out shopping before transfer to the airport for your out bound flight.
