Rwanda - Travel Information and Tips

Rwanda is known as a land of great diversity and beauty. Popularly Known as "the land of thousand hills", Rwanda has five volcanoes, 23 lakes and a number of rivers some forming the source of the great rive Nile. The landscapes in the green country are truly breathtaking. Experience all the highlights in just one trip. From the genocide memorial site in Kigali to the wilderness in Akagera, the African jungle in Nyungwe forest and the Virunga volcanoes in PNV.

 

Where to visit?
You may decide to visit the Kigali city and the genocide memorial sites. You then transfer to the parc national des volcans gorilla sanctuary for gorilla trekking then to the Akagera NP. Also have a chance to visit the Nyungwe forest NP to view the abundant species of animals in this NP.

 

What to do?
Nature walk in the Nyangwe forest NP and in the Virungas, gorilla trekking in the parc des volcans, bird watching is also another interesting activity that is carried out and shopping as you relax in Kigali city.

When to visit?
It is possible to undertake the tour in Rwanda though the dry seasons are likely to guarantee better roads in the parks.

Travel Insurance to Rwanda

If you need medical care whilst in Rwanda, it is best to be aware that medical providers may not accept payment through your insurance company. In these circumstances you will have to pay in full after your treatment and file a claim with your insurance company for reimbursement. Therefore you should have access to cash, either from a credit card or by wire transfer. If you need assistance contact the country's local embassy or representative.

To be compensated you must be treated by licensed medical personnel and provide your insurance company with proper documentation and receipts.

It is advisable to always ensure you have a comprehensive travel insurance policy which covers you for repatriation to your home country.
