17 Days Uganda Safari to Uganda's National Parks
Day 1: Arrival
Met by your driver / safari guide, then proceed to Kampala and check in at your accommodation later you may opt Rest OR to have a city tour visiting some of the landmarks in town to visit Places like Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Museums and many others. Depending on if you arrive early enough and you will also have some money changed, if arrival is early before noon then you will have the tour, but if afternoon you just transfer to Kampala, change some money and then to your accommodation. Over night at Cassia Lodge or Holiday Express Hotel (BB)
Day 2: Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park
Have early morning breakfast, then your driver/guide picks you to depart to Lake Mburo National Park, this is almost a 3 hours drive. Arrive in the park and early enough and check in, then have lunch and in the afternoon, go for a boat ride on Lake to cool you off. Dinner and overnight at Mantana Tented camp or Rwonyo Camp. (FB)
Day 3: Lake Mburo - Bwindi Impenetrable Park – Birding
Morning game drive then transfer to Bwindi, you may have lunch in the park if you arrive early, you may have it en route. In the afternoon we go for village walks or you may decide to bird along the Ruhija site where you will view different species of birds for the whole evening. Return for relaxation, dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort or Buhoma Community Bandas. (FB)
Day 4: Gorilla trekking
Enjoy the adventure of tracking the gorillas in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. This day begins very early with breakfast, then go for briefing at 8:00am with your packed lunch. The gorilla tracking is unpredictable, and difficult to for see how many hours you will actually hike say up to 8 hours, and be prepared to a walk long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter gorillas. Anyone who has made the trek will be quick to say that in any circumstances the thrill of seeing the gorillas makes it all worthwhile. Time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour, for conservation purposes. The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these gentle giants, Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort or Buhoma Community Bandas.(FB)
Day 5: Bwindi - Lake Bunyonyi
Have an early breakfast, then take an optional guided nature walk in Bwindi and choose from one of the 5 trails or the New Village trail. Return and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in time for lunch, then enjoy relaxing moments on the shores of this peaceful lake Swimming or canoeing. Then your dinner and overnight at Arcadia cottages or Bunyonyi Over land Camp. (FB)
Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi - Queen Elizabeth National Park
Have breakfast then visit the Batwa communities, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park in time for lunch then do an afternoon game drive in search of the wild game: lions and may be lucky to get them in action, elephants, buffaloes, kob etc. check in at Mweya Safari lodge or Institute of ecology and have an over night (FB)
Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park
A very early game drive to the northern parts of the park an excellent game viewing area and a lot of game in this area; you spend all morning game driving.
Return for breakfast then you may OPT for a forest walk in the Maramagambo forest; we visit the bat caves, and take a close look at the bats, rock python which is occasionally feeding on the bats. The same walk will provide a chance of seeing birds, primates, tree species etc. Return for lunch then after lunch, at 17.00 hrs we take on a boat cruise along Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. On the cruise abundant bird life is sighted and perhaps the highest concentration of hippos in Africa, dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Institute of ecology.( FB)
Day 8: Queen Elizabeth - Kibale National Park
You have another game drive very early in the morning then return for breakfast, after you visit Kyambura Wildlife Reserve. Driving through grassland area, all of a sudden we come across an amazing gorge of tropical rainforest 100 meters deep. Hike into Kyambura River Gorge for an unforgettable experience trekking chimpanzees. It's a rewarding experience not only to see the chimpanzees, but also to see the beautiful river valley that houses numerous birds and butterfly species.
Then return for lunch then transfer to Kibale - Fort portal, arriving in the evening. Check in at Ndali lodge or Rwenzori View Guest House for Dinner and overnight.
Day9: Kibale - Primate Walk
Early morning breakfast, proceed for a primate walk which is rewarding to a primate lover, Chimps, Monkeys. Return for lunch. After lunch, proceed to either Magombe swamps for as swamp walk at Magombe swamp this is an excellent place to bird or we leave the park to visit the crater lakes region. Later retire for dinner and overnight at Ndali lodge or Rwenzori View Guest House or Primate Lodge.
Day 10: Semliki - Fort portal
Depart early after breakfast for the hot springs and crown the day in the pygmy villages located near the Ituri Rainforest. The visit to the villages has proven to be an interesting cultural experience. The guide will have lunch arranged for you to be served as a picnic while you experience the "real Africa". Afternoon transfer to Fort Portal and arrive this evening at Ndali lodge or Rwenzori View Guest House for dinner and overnight
Day 11: Transfer from Fort portal - Murchison Falls National Park
Early breakfast then start this journey with limited few stopovers, you will not that this is a long journey with bad roads so it may take about 8-10 hours. On this day you will have lunch en route then arrive later in the park to check in for dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge or Sambiya River Lodge or Red Chilli
Day 12: Murchison Falls National Park
Have early break fast, and then proceed on a game drive which will reveal a lot of birds only found in this park and wild animals like cobs, giraffes, lions and elephants. Return for lunch. Then in the afternoon, take a boat launch to the foot of the magnificent Murchison falls, this will reveal lots of Hippos and Huge Nile Crocodiles, then while at the foot you will enjoy a nature walk to the top of the of The Mighty Falls while at the top of the falls, you view water falling in over 45 meter gorge with mist forming the colours of the rain bow. Return to Paraa Safari Lodge or Sambiya River Lodge or Red Chilli for dinner and overnight.
Day 13: Murchison Falls National Park
Morning breakfast, then enjoy a launch cruise a board the "shoebill boat" to the Delta area for a half-day bird watching cruise in the swamps. Bird species here include the rare shoe billed; saddle Billed & Abdim's Stork. Also look out for Pied Kingfisher, Malachite Kingfisher and the African skimmer.
Return for lunch then enjoy an evening drive though the park to spot animals like cobs, giraffes, lions and elephants, return later for Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge o Sambiya River Lodge r Red Chilli
Day 14: Game Drive then Transfer to Kampala
Early game drive to the northern sector searching for animals and birds then return for breakfast and then pack your bags for Kampala. You have Lunch at Masindi, visit some interesting places then head for Kampala arriving late afternoon to relax at Boma Guest House in Entebbe or Sophie’s Motel (BB)
Day 15: Depart Ngamba Island and Chimp Viewing
You guide will meet you at the Hotel, brief you shortly and drive you to the shores of Lake Victoria to meet your 9.00am launch. The boat takes about 45 minutes across to Ngamba Island, crossing the Equator en-route. On arrival at the island, home to 39 chimpanzees, you will be given a short introduction and briefing on the sanctuary. After which, its feeding time! It is fascinating to watch the chimps interact with each other and with their keepers. In the relatively short amount of time you are there you will be able to see such different personalities amongst the group, with some whistling for food and others clapping. Obviously the ideal option would be to re-introduce these orphaned chimpanzees to the wild however this is not possible for a number of different reasons and the sanctuary is not bad for second best. Day 16: Forest walk
For those who have had the required set of medical inoculations, a forest walk with the chimps is a unique experience. The playful chimps climb on you, pull your hair, or just walk along holding your hand! (Clients must have specific up to date vaccinations for this activity, which is restricted to three people at any one time, and should ask for further details before booking).
Overnight in Ngamba Island Camp (FB)
Day 16:
After breakfast, you will return to the main land and relax at any Hotel in Kampala or visit any beach around Entebbe. Over night at Cassia Lodge or Holiday Express Hotel (BB)
Day 17: Departure
Morning breakfast, do shopping and visiting crafts villages, and head for Entebbe for your flight back home.
